Lieshout – After a draw against the strong Resilience and a clear victory over the weak Groesbeek, the men’s team of Badminton Club Lieshout retains the lead in the third division of the national ‘Men’s class with nylon shuttles’. However, number two, BC Oirschot’s men’s team, is approaching and also has a make-up match to play. A nice final battle in this class seems to be ahead.
BCL-H1/BouwCenter Swinkels – BC Resilience-H1: 4-4
The match against the first men’s team of the Oeffeltse Veerkracht was completely balanced in all areas. Of the four double matches played, both teams managed to win two: in those matches it was equal. That was also the case with the singles. Laurence Roijjackers and Ruud van Vijfeijken won their singles matches there, while Bert Manders and Wouter van Vijfeijken lost their matches. In the single matches, the points were therefore distributed fairly. It also came to a third -added- deciding set in four of the eight matches. And, to make things even more even, both teams also managed to win two three-setters. The game was therefore completely even, allowing both teams to add four points.
BC Groesbeek-H1 – BCL-H1/BouwCenter Swinkels: 1-7
The match against BC Groesbeek’s first men’s team was very one-sided. Seven of the eight matches were won by the Lieshout guests. Only Wouter van Vijfeijken couldn’t make it. He was the first gentleman to lose to his Groesbeek opponent in two sets. Ruud van Vijfeijken, Bert Manders and Laurence Roijackers did better. They all won their singles match in straight sets. Also the doubles, where Christian Klumpers made his appearance, were all won. In fact: in no doubles match did it come to a decisive third set. All matches were won in two sets.
Exciting
Because of the 11 points earned in these two games, BCL-H1/BouwCenter Swinkels now tops the third division of the ‘Men’s class, with nylon shuttle’. In that league they now have 51 points from 9 games. Runner-up Oirschot is in second place in that class with 43 points from 8 matches, just ahead of BC Veerkracht. And, because there is a maximum of 8 points to be earned in a match, the Oirschotse team can maximally equalize with the Lieshoutse men’s team. Because the mutual match between the two rivals is still on the program, an exciting final battle for the lead.
