Volleyball Championship Relocated
The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) announced on Tuesday the relocation of the 2022 Men’s World volleyball Championship, originally scheduled to be held in Russia from august 26 to September 11. Citing concerns for the safety of the Ukrainian people and the escalating situation,the FIVB deemed it impossible to proceed with the tournament in Russia. This decision follows a pattern of major sporting events being canceled or moved from Russia this year, including the 2023 World Hockey Junior championship, the UEFA Champions League final, and the F-1 stage.
Floorball Federations Suspended
The international Floorball Federation (IFF) has taken decisive action by suspending the memberships of both the Russian and Belarusian federations. This suspension prohibits international floorball events from taking place in these countries and bars their national teams from participating in competitions, including the World Cup qualifiers scheduled for May in Kocēni. The IFF has pledged its support to the Ukrainian national team,ensuring their participation in the qualifying tournament in Valmiera during the same month.
ISU Bans Russian and Belarusian Athletes
