When Thomas Tuchel is once again asked by a journalist about the war in Ukraine and its influence on the club and the players, it becomes too much for him. “You have to stop!” he interrupts the questioner firmly.
“I’m not a politician. I can only repeat myself and that makes me feel bad, because I’ve never experienced a war. It feels bad to talk about it from my privileged position. I don’t have an answer to your questions.”
“How many times do I have to say it’s terrible? You can’t have a different opinion about that, can you.”
“And why should we be more affected or distracted by it than you? Of course we are also worried. We too have noise in our heads. But we still try to create an atmosphere to nevertheless concentrate on our work, our passion. We’re thankful we still have that.”
