I Philadelphia 76ers pensano a DeAndre Jordan to find a backup center for Joel Embiid, the veteran former Clippers has just been released by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Jordan, 33, will remain on the free agent list for 48 hours as per NBA wage rules, by which time another team can “claim” his contract. At the end of the 48 hours, Jordan will be free agent and will be able to negotiate a new deal with another team.
After including Andre Drummond in the trade that led James Harden in Philadelphia, the Sixers effectively lost the reserve center, and in the first two games coach Doc Rivers used Paul Millsap, arrived from Brooklyn on the exchange, as Embiid’s backup. In a limited time, DeAndre Jordan can still make a contribution to rebounding, as a defensive presence in the center of the area and as an attacking recipient of the lobs of James Harden, already his teammate in Brooklyn last year.
The Philadelphia 76ers have one free spot on the roster and therefore won’t need to cut another player to get DeAndre Jordan under contract.
