Birkenthal fails to shoot upright, junior championship finished in 19th place – Winter Sports – Sportacentrs.com

# In the previous junior championship, Birkentals dropped from 40th place with eight errors to the last or 60th position.

# Before this start, the Tallinner had shown two high-quality results in the USA – 13th place in the classic, while finishing in the top ten in the sprint.

# Norwegian biathlete Martin Nevland, the winner of the sprint distance, started the race race 55 seconds behind. Renar performed the first shot flawlessly, being 21.6 seconds away from the leader and taking eighth place. The Latvian did not make a mistake in the second recumbent shooting and was one place higher, ie up to the seventh position. At that point, Birkenthal was 18.9 seconds behind the top three.

# This was followed by the first shooting upright, in which the Latvian biathlete earned the first penalty lap, returning to the eighth position. Space to Top 3 increased by almost half. This was followed by a final line of fire, which proved to be very unsuccessful for Birkenthal – three open goals. In the last lap he also dropped his speed in the distance, and he finished in 19th place, which was two minutes and 21 seconds behind the winner.

# Overall, the 20-year-old athlete has a modest 25th step on the track and 49th shooting speed.

# The winner was the same as in the sprint – Norwegian Nevland. The silver went to the Bulgarian biathlete Blagoy Todev, while the bronze was once again worn by Nevins compatriot Martin Uldal. The 17-place increase went to the classic goldman Czech Jonas Mareček, who took the sixth position.
