Isaiah Thomas before joining the Charlotte Hornets

Isaiah Thomas continues to fight for a future in the NBA. The little guard is about to sign with the Charlotte Hornets.

Wie Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) reported, Thomas will initially sign a ten-day contract with the Hornets. The 33-year-old has already played a total of six games for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks this season, but could not recommend himself for a further engagement.

The guard most recently made headlines in the G-League, where he averaged 41.3 points in three games for the Denver Nuggets farm team, the Grand Rapids Gold. The former All-Star hit the 45-point mark twice, and his 46 points (13/25 FG, 9/17 TFs, plus 7 assists) against the Greensboro Swarm set a league-wide season record.

For the 60th pick of 2011, the Hornets are now the tenth NBA team, IT spent its best years with the Boston Celtics between 2015 and 2017. There the playmaker rose to become an MVP candidate and was in the All-NBA in 2017 Second team selected. In the following playoffs, however, Thomas played with a broken hip and since then he has never been able to repeat his brilliant performances of that season. In 533 appearances, Thomas averaged 18.0 points and 4.9 assists

The Hornets have lost 11 of their last 13 games and are now 10th in the East (30-33). The failure of forward Gordon Hayward, who is once again struggling with ankle problems, was particularly painful. After Ish Smith’s trade to Washington, the Hornets are thinly occupied in the guard positions, behind the starters LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier there is a big hole, and rookie James Bouknight is injured at the moment.
