AC Milan and Inter back to back after the first leg semi-final

The Milan derby gave birth to a goalless draw in the semi-final first leg of the Italian Cup.

AC Milan were held in check by Inter (0-0) in the Giuseppe-Meazza stadium in the semi-final first leg of the Italian Cup on Tuesday evening. The “Rossoneri”, still without their star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic injured in the Achilles tendon of the right leg at the end of January, have a third draw in a row.

Olivier Giroud, who scored twice in the last Milan derby last month (2-1), this time failed to find the net for Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. AC Milan almost took the lead at the start of the game thanks to a strike from midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers (9th), then a French combination with a discount from Olivier Giroud for Théo Hernandez (10th).

No occasion really worried Mike Maignan, the AC Milan goalkeeper, nor that of Inter during the rest of the meeting. With this draw, Inter now have a fifth game without a win in a row and are still down in attack.

The return match will take place on April 20, but in the meantime AC Milan will travel to Naples on Sunday (8:45 p.m.) to keep their first place in Serie A. In the other semi-final first leg, Juventus led by Dusan Vlahovic, undefeated since January 12, moves to Fiorentina on Wednesday (9 p.m.), before the return match scheduled for April 21.
