Battling Back: A Chat With Coach Steve kerr About Boston’s Gritty Win
Welcome back, basketball fans! Today we’re blessed enough to have Golden State Warriors Head Coach steve Kerr join us to discuss last night’s thrilling match-up between teh Boston celtics adn the Atlanta Hawks. Coach Kerr, thanks for taking the time.
Steve Kerr: Absolutely, it’s always a pleasure to chat about the game.
Now, coach, Boston overcame a tough 17-point deficit to secure the win. What stood out to you as the crucial turning point in the game?
Steve Kerr: You know, I think it was the Celtics’ defense in that second half. They really clamped down on Trae Young. Doubling him, forcing him to give up the ball, and making him work for every shot. Young is so dynamic, you have to make life arduous for him, and I thought Boston did a fantastic job of that after halftime.
It felt like the intensity shifted substantially. Jayson Tatum was a force on both ends of the court, leading the Celtics with 33 points. How impressed where you with his performance?
Steve Kerr: Tatum is a true star. He’s got that killer instinct, that ability to take over a game when his team needs him most. and last night, they certainly needed him. But I also want to highlight the contributions of guys like Derrick White and Grant Williams. They stepped up big time, providing that extra scoring punch and defensive effort that fueled the comeback.
Absolutely, that depth is what makes them such a dangerous team. What do you make of the Hawks’ performance? They started off strong but faded in the second half. What needs to change for them to be more consistent?
Steve Kerr: the Hawks have a lot of talent, no question. They need to find that consistency, though. Reliance on Trae Young is understandable, but other guys need to step up and contribute more consistently. Bogdanovic had a good game, but they need more balanced scoring from night to night.
That’s a fair point, Coach. Looking ahead, do you see the Celtics as a genuine top contender in the Eastern Conference?
Steve Kerr: Without a doubt. They’re right up there with the best teams in the league. They’ve got the talent, the coaching, and now they’ve shown they’ve got the grit and determination to overcome adversity. They’re going to be a tough out for anyone in the playoffs.
