Georg Pangl is currently writing a book. The documents for this are piled up on his desk, from which he welcomes the “ballesterer” to the video interview. The Burgenlander has enough material: he was team manager of the national team in the 1990s, helped organize two Champions League finals and, as general secretary of the club association The European Leagues, messed with the big names in European football. From 2004 to 2014, Pangl was on the board of the Bundesliga, where he experienced years of upheaval. He supported the tightening of the licensing process and fought for the modernization of football operations. Not always with success. “Sometimes I felt like I was in a movie,” says Pangl. “But not in a good one.”
