On the 1st (local time), the British daily Metro reported that the global sporting goods manufacturer ‘Adidas’ has terminated the partnership contract with the Russian national football team, which has been sponsored for 14 years.

Previously, Adidas signed a sponsorship contract with the Russian Football Association for 14 years from 2009 to now, and has been producing uniforms for the Russian soccer team.
However, as Russia invaded Ukraine, the international community angered and Adidas also joined the criticism against Russia and declared a ‘stop loss’.
An adidas spokesperson said: “Adidas is immediately terminating its partnership with the Russian Football Federation (RFS).”

According to local media, Adidas recorded 584 million euros (about 787.8 billion won) in sales in Russia in 2020 alone, but it is known that Adidas took a loss to show its opposition to Russia, which had forced its invasion of Ukraine.
This isn’t the first time football has made a decision to stop losing with Russia.
Schalke 04, a prestigious German football club, has joined Russian sanctions by terminating the contract with the Russian company Gazprom, which has been running for 15 years.
