On Sunday, for the first time in 2022, Sparta won the Fortuna League match, defeating Zlín at home. The goals of Tomáš Čvančara and Jakub Pešek decided it. How did coach Pavel Vrba evaluate the match?
Sparta has had three challenging weeks. During them she played six matches, won only the cup derby with Slavia and just Sunday’s match with Zlín. In addition, the people of Letna dropped out of the European Conference League.

Tomáš Čvančara gave the decisive Sunday goal for the home team at the beginning of the second half. The winter reinforcement from Jablonec did a lot of work at the tip of the attack, won countless fights and, most importantly, scored its first goal in a red jersey.
Čvančar’s intervention was the first spring goal of Sparta, which was scored by a classic spike striker. Matěj Pulkrab and Lukáš Juliš are injured and Martin Minčev did not experience the renewed start of the season in ideal form.
“He finally scored a goal. I hope you write that I said it with a smile. Of course we expect that from him. Even on that basis, we selected him in Jablonec. He is a player who, in my opinion, has the prerequisites to help us more in the offensive phase. I am glad that he helped us today with a goal that affected the match a lot, ” the coach continued.
After the win, Sparta remained in contact with the top of the table, they are currently losing seven points at Slavia and Plzeň and have one good match. In addition, it is already certain that in the event of a tie between Pilsen and Letná, the Czech team will end up under Západočechy, as they have a worse match.
Derby with Slavia will be the turning point of the year. If Sparta does not win, the path to the title will be very thorny. Let us not forget that the Letnás will face clashes with Slovácko and Baník Ostrava until the end of the basic part.
