Kalver has a successful debut in the Astana development team;  Anson placed 15th in the French Cup

Last year’s Latvian junior champion Matīss Kalveršs, who made his debut as part of the “Astana” development team, won the high 12th place in the UCI category 2 one-day cycling “Umag Trophy” taking place in Croatia on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Christer Anson took 15th place in the French Cup.

Matīss Kaļveršs from Salaspils spends his first year in the U23 age group in the development team of the world tour unit “Astana”. For last year’s Latvian junior absolute champion, this means excellent training conditions, an extensive competition calendar and very valuable care from a professional organization. Matisa’s daily life in winter and spring was spent in France, near Nice. There is also extensive training in the area to better prepare for your first season of adult competition.

Having missed the team’s first start in Oman, Matiss opened the season in Croatia, where the UCI Category 2 one-day bike race “Umag Trophy” took place on Wednesday. During the bike ride, the cyclists covered a distance of 154 kilometers, which was divided into seven laps with one marked ascent in each. 172 cyclists from the continental and continental units went to the start.

Finishing one second ahead of the group, Daniel Auer from the “WSA KTM Graz p / b Lemo” team celebrated the victory in the competition. Second place went to Czech Tomas Barta (ATT Investments), while third place went to Serbian champion Dushan Rajovic, who represents Corratec.

Matiss Kalvers fought very successfully in his debut competition, finishing in front of the big group and winning 12th place. Matis was left with only two positions until the first UCI points in his career. Kalvers was also the best driver of the Astana development team.

On March 6, the one-day cycling trip “Trophey Poreč” will take place in Croatia, where Emīls Liepiņš triumphed in 2018. At the time, Tadejs Pogačars, the current superstar of world cycling, finished in fourth place.

Christer Anson ran the Circuit de la Vallée du Bédat in France, one of the stages of the French Elite Cup. In the 132-kilometer distance, the Latvian finished in front of the big group and won the 15th place. Remi Kapron, a member of the Talsi team, took the fourth position.
