Struggle
The club will open a new venue in El Palmar in April, where its members will be able to train in optimal conditions
The Murcian club Grappling 360 has won 16 medals in the Spanish Championship of this modality, a type of fight used in different martial arts such as judo, jiu-jitsu or wrestling, based on grappling techniques, position, dislocation and submission on the opponent through points or submission, that is, surrender without the need for gravity blows.
In this 2022 edition, the Murcian team has once again been able to count on the internationals Nicolás Medina and Sergio Riquelme, benchmarks within the club who will compete in Budapest in the next European Championship. The Grappling 360 of Murcia has achieved the team runner-up after winning the championship the previous two years. By categories, the team sponsored by Grupo Terramovil has achieved a whopping 16 medals (6 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze) between the GI and No GI categories.
In the female category, the Murcian fighters have triumphed. The two golds by Elena Riquelme, the two silvers by Carlota Prendes and the bronze by Karen Sousa stand out. Pablo de Gorriño Jiménez has won a gold and a silver medal and Brian Mc Cawley, a bronze in his first national championship in the veterans category. The international Nicolás Medina has achieved two golds. Valentín Lancharro and Pablo Bueno, a bronze each. And Cristina Casas, a silver in the senior category. And, finally, Andrés Sánchez obtained a bronze in junior.
In this way, the Spanish Grappling and Grappling GI Championships 2022 have been most rewarding for the Murcian team. Pablo de Gorriño, Spanish veteran champion in the last three editions, confesses that what his club has obtained “has been a most positive surprise”, highlighting the fact that “with 14 athletes we have achieved 16 medals. Everyone’s efforts have paid off.”
five years of life
The Grappling 360 club is barely five years old and was formed thanks to a group of policemen who trained together in different parts of the Region and who, thanks to the opening of a local by the founder, Salvador Sánchez, decided, why not , create a federated team to compete in their sport. And they are succeeding.
The Grappling 360 group is going to open a new training venue in April, for different fighting modalities, such as MMA or boxing itself. All this through the federation and the Higher Sports Council. The new venue, located in El Palmar, will have the best tatami in the world as well as the best possible facilities.
