DThe Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) has declared a point deduction against United Volleys Frankfurt “because of repeated violations in the economic licensing process”. The association announced this on Thursday.
The penalty was imposed in mid-January and is now effective. The United Volleys were deducted six points in the current season of the already completed main round. As a result, Volleys slipped from second to third place in the table. The point deduction also has an effect in the intermediate round that is currently being played: the Frankfurt volleyball players drop back from third to fourth place.
The association appealed the decision. Since both parties were striving for an out-of-court settlement, the decision had not yet been published. After the failure of the attempt at agreement, the immediate implementation of the decision is now ordered, according to the association’s statement. “Due to the confidentiality” of the economic licensing process, Josephine Dörfler, Director of Media and Communication at the VBL, did not provide any further information on the violations, even when asked.
Game against Düren is cancelled
Meanwhile, the United Volleys announced that their game against SWD powervolleys Düren scheduled for Saturday had been canceled due to corona cases. As part of routine tests, there were several positive Covid 19 results in the Düren team, which therefore no longer had enough players available. A new game date has not yet been set.
