The game has been manipulated,” Clark said in a meeting with the press on Tuesday, after the negotiation process that they carried out uninterruptedly for nine days in Jupiter, Florida (USA) concluded, and which ended without an agreement that would stop the work stoppage that the league has been experiencing since last December 2.
The union leader criticized the way players have been marketed in the current Major League market; under the control of what he called a “hard to explain” grand scheme.
MLB players and owners failed to reach a deal despite evident efforts over the past two days, including a 17-plus-hour trade; which began Monday morning and ended Tuesday morning.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred; announced the cancellation of the start of the regular season of the Major Leagues, scheduled for March 31 and now the negotiation process that seeks to put an end to the strike that affects the league moves to New York.
For the moment the players will continue without receiving their salaries while the strike lasts and it also adds up; the discount they will receive for each regular season game that is cancelled.
THE MLB MAINTAINS OPTIMISM
Major League Baseball (MLB) acknowledged that negotiations with the MLB Players Association (MLBPA) have suffered a setback.
“We thought there was a way to reach an agreement last night. We agree to exhaust all options. We will make our best offer to the players at 5:00 in the afternoon, ”explained an MLB spokesman; who specified that it will be fair for both parties to the conflict.
The owners, who had set Monday as the deadline to achieve a negotiation that ends the work stoppage that the players have maintained since last December 2, without the need to cancel games, extended that deadline until this Tuesday; therefore, the time to reach an agreement is getting shorter and shorter.
The negotiation process last Monday lasted more than 17 hours; reaching the early hours of this Tuesday, agreeing to establish a total of 12, with the right to play in the Major League postseason.
As explained by the spokesman, the difference that has been presented this Tuesday is that last night the players did not present a proposal on the luxury tax, for which they granted the term until this day, but the union members have made requests outside the context that was had raised and “inconsistent”; he held him.
