It finally worked for PSV. The team from Eindhoven is in the semifinals of the KNVB Cup for the first time in 9 years.
PSV had little difficulty setting aside “stunt team” NAC Breda. NAC stunted in the previous rounds by eliminating Utrecht and PEC Zwolle, but the number 11 in the Eredivisie posed no threat to the people of Eindhoven.
PSV took the lead early in the game. Noni Madueke celebrated his return from injury with a goal. Mario Götze jabbed twice and ensured a comfortable rest position.
In the second half there were substitutes for Belgians Johan Bakayoko (18) and Yorbe Vertessen (21). At the end of the match, Gakpo recorded the 4-0 final score.
And so PSV can still dream of the 10th Cup in club history.
