“An intense game” is how Jaka Lakovic described the 92:86 win against s.Oliver Würzburg. The duel had a few highlights to offer: The spectators in the ratiopharm arena saw a heated game with Würzburg coach Sasa Filipovski being sent off – 41 points from Desi Rodriguez on top. When asked how the opposing forward can be defended on Friday, Lakovic is self-confident: “We know his strengths, but it’s not just about him. The whole team needs to be defended well and to stop him we will find a way.”
Philipp Herkenhoff was also convincing in the first leg: 11 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals – figures that the 22-year-old can be proud of. “With the absence of Cristiano Felicio, there are now new opportunities for me – I can also play in fifth position.” According to Lakovic, the Brazilian center “was seriously injured and will probably be absent for eight weeks.” Herkenhoff only arrived a few days ago back from the national team window: “In the meantime I had a day and a half to recover, that felt really good. The season before the international break was exhausting for all of us. It doesn’t matter if it’s national team or not – everyone had the many games in their bones in the weeks before.” ratiopharm ulm used the transition phase for regeneration and preparation. The Ulm coach Lakovic is particularly satisfied with the course of the last few days: “We prepared intensively with the available team, some guys from the ProB team were also there – the integration worked well.”
