Dataminers discover new sports in Nintendo Switch Sports

Which sports has Nintendo not yet wanted to reveal?

The announcement of Nintendo Switch Sports came as a huge surprise to many. The mega-successful Wii Sports series on the mega-successful Wii gets a sequel after many years. (Sorry, Wii Sports Club on Wii U, almost everyone forgot about you.) The upcoming release features both old classics and brand new sports. These are tennis, bowling, chanbara, football, badminton and volleyball. Golf will also be added to the sports roster from the fall. Those are the only sports currently announced by Nintendo itself. However, data miners have found information that suggests we can expect even more sports.

Dataminer Wipeoutjack7 shared his find on Twitter and was later supported in his find by dataminer ToyConGarageVR† He found out that there are folders in the files for dodgeball and basketball. As Wipeoutjack7 itself also says, this doesn’t necessarily mean that these sports are guaranteed to come in a future update. It could equally well mean that these sports were once in development, but were eventually scrapped. But it’s at least a possible hint that Nintendo is still holding some surprises for us at the moment. Are you looking forward to Nintendo Switch Sports? Which sports are your favorite, and which ones do you hope will be added to the game? Let us know in the comments!
