Davis Cup captain Johan Van Herck is especially wary of Emil Ruusuvuori. The 22-year-old Finn, 71st in the world ranking, played a final in Pune and a semi-final in Melbourne earlier this year. He also played strongly in the first round of the Australian Open against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (ATP 9). He eventually lost in 5 sets.
“He will be the absolute leader of Finland, he had a great start to the season. Harri Heliovaara (50th in the world in doubles) is also winning a lot. I think Ruusuvuori will play 3 matches (two singles and the doubles).”
“Their second player, Otto Virtanen (ATP-405), has not started his season so well. But we know that anything can happen in the Davis Cup.”
