Some Nike sneakers that a tiktoker was wearing in a video on the social network in which he appears dancing facilitated his arrest by federal authorities in Michigan.
Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Chozen Terrell-Hannah, 22, on Wednesday after seeing him in a TikTok video dancing in the same sneakers he used for one of the robberies attributed to him.
The FOX 2 Detroit report states that the young man was wanted for four incidents of armed robbery between December 1 and February 1 last. The suspect is accused of rob a 7-Eleven store twiceas well as a gas station and a tobacco shop.
The authorities allege that the developer video was posted by Terrell-Hannah on her “ChozenWrld” TikTok account the same day he would have committed the first robbery.
Videos of the suspect have between thousands and several million views.
A Anonymous tip directed officers to the suspect’s social media profile where he accumulates more than 149,000 followers.
Officials told the television station that examined dozens of videos on TikTok and they realized that the appearance of the boy coincided with the descriptions of the witnesses
The FBI also revealed that they intervened in the defendant’s cell phone, and that the geolocation placed him in the area of the robberies.
In a search of his home, agents seized a Glock pistol and exclusive shoes.
Terrell-Hannah allegedly admitted committing the robberies.
The tiktoker faces charges of interfering with interstate commerce and possessing a weapon during a violent crime.
