Dimayor changed the appointment of the referee for the Valle del Cauca classic between Cali and America

The Major Division of Colombian Soccer modified this Friday the appointment of the referee for this Saturday’s Valle del Cauca classic between Deportivo Cali and América.

Initially, the center back Carlos Betancur was appointed for the duel between the greens and the reds, in Palmira, but the name of Wílmar Roldán already appears on Dimayor’s platform.

What was determined was a change between the referees, because now the Valle del Cauca will direct the Antioquia classic between Nacional and Medellín, while the Remedian will be in the Palmaseca match.

Unofficially, it was learned that this decision was made as a result of several calls and text messages that referee Betancur received with threats against his life, a reason that forced him to change his appointment for security reasons.

Now, who is in the eye of the hurricane is the coach of Deportivo Cali, Rafael Dudamel, since he was the one who last Thursday referred to the appointment of Carlos Betancur at a press conference saying: “I only care about one name about Saturday’s game: Carlos Betancur, that he is not going to damage the match, as he already did with a non-existent penalty in a classic and a valid goal disallowed by Ángelo Rodríguez”.

This statement, for some, was the trigger for the threats received by the Valle del Cauca pito and for which it was decided to change the central defender for the game between Cali and America. Versions that gain strength thanks to the statement issued by the Verdiblanco on Friday morning, apologizing for the answers given by the members of the club at a press conference.
