According to information collected by the Spanish journalist, Marc Mundet of RAC1, the International Federation does not intervene in the termination of the contracts of the players of the Russian teams, who have decided to pack their bags because of the war in Ukraine. FIBA considers this to be a “private matter” between the two parties.
Several foreign players from CSKA Moscow, Zenit Saint-Petersburg and UNICS Kazan have left the country, and if there are cases of over-the-counter contract breaches, such as that of Italian point guard Daniel Hackett, who signed Since then at Virtus Bologna, other issues have been much trickier. Thus, according to Ian Begley of SNY, UNICS Kazan is claiming $250,000 from American winger Jarrell Brantley (1.96m, 25 years old), who left the club without his consent. Brantley is looking to join the G-League, and the Russians want to prevent the transfer.
