Klopp plans to leave Liverpool in the summer of 2024

Dhe German soccer coach Jürgen Klopp plans to leave Liverpool after his current contract ends in the summer of 2024. “The plan at the moment is for me to do it until 2024, and then it will be: thank you very much,” said Klopp on Friday. The 54-year-old, while not committing himself 100%, did hint that he could take a break from football. “I love what I do. But I’ve said it a few times: there has to be something else in the world than just thinking about very talented, good-looking and fantastically nice footballers.”

At the moment he is still “full of energy” for his job. “But we have to make sure it stays that way,” said the Liverpool coach, who won the Champions League and their first championship with the “Reds” in 30 years. “You don’t want to sit around tired at some point and keep thinking: why is everyone interested in what’s going on out there? I don’t care at all.”

Having lifted the League Cup last week, Liverpool have three more competitions in the running for a total of four titles this season. According to Klopp, who has been at Anfield for six and a half years, the club will continue to be successful in the future because they have hired the right people. “These people, of which we have a great many here at the moment, will make sure things go well,” said Klopp, “even when I’m gone – whenever that will be.”
