Roger Federer reappeared on the scene. From Lenzerheide, Switzerland, the Basel-born gave an interview for the local media SRF Sports and counted details of his operation, his recovery and his return to the courts.
“I’m fine. I walked on crutches for 2 months and had to start over. But it was the right thing to do. The knee wasn’t right anymore after Wimbledon. I couldn’t go on like this.” The 40-year-old player said about his surgical intervention and the post-operative period.
The Swiss is currently in the second phase of recovery and expressed: “I am in the process of rebuilding everything and now I can slowly think about my return”. In addition, he said that he had an MRI which went “very well” in Federer’s own words and that gave him confidence for the next step in rehabilitation.
Finally, and regarding his return to the tennis courts, he stated: “It will definitely take a while. Until the end of the summer, the beginning of the (European) autumn. That’s the time I’m looking for my comeback. I’m much better now.”
