Thiemann: Nowitzki would “definitely help us”

National player Johannes Thiemann can well imagine former basketball superstar Dirk Nowitzki working for the German national team. “Yes of course. Dirk has an incredible experience. When he speaks to the team, everyone would listen very carefully. So that would be a personal detail that would definitely help us. I don’t know how realistic these considerations are,” said the 28-year-old in an interview with Sports Illustrated magazine published on Friday.

The new national coach Gordon Herbert had already talked about the idea of being able to involve Nowitzki in the future. Thiemann, who plays for basketball champion Alba Berlin, can hardly imagine that a career like Nowitzki’s will be repeated again. “These are huge footsteps that Dirk left behind. Producing the next Nowitzki directly will be difficult, »said Thiemann. This also includes “good luck,” he clarified. “You have to be in the right place at the right time and in the right shape. It’s not enough just to have talent.”
