3: 2 after 0: 2: Stuttgart scores big points

VfB Stuttgart clinched a much-needed home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach and reversed a 0-2 deficit. Despite a good start, the Swabians fell behind after a well-played goal by Plea (14′) and had to take the next hit in the neck from a goal by Thuram (35′) in the middle of the first half. Endo’s quick goal (38′) breathed new life into VfB, shortly after the break Führich scored the deserved equalizer (51′). However, VfB wasn’t satisfied with that, Stuttgart kept running – and were rewarded with Kalajdzic’s winning goal in the closing stages (83′). This means that Stuttgart is only one point behind the relegation place.

Müller’s first own goal: Leverkusen scores in the top game

Bayer 04 Leverkusen got a point at FC Bayern in the top game of the Bundesliga. The record champions from Munich cracked the unusually defensive Rhinelanders thanks to a corner and insufficient defensive work from Leverkusen – Süle scored powerfully to make it 1-0 (18th). Munich actually had everything under control when Müller scored his first Bundesliga own goal after a Demirbay free-kick (36th) and thus brought Leverkusen back into the game. The Werkself should have been in the lead by the break, Adli (42′) and Aranguiz (45′) missed two big chances. In the second half, the hosts set the tone again, Sabitzer (62nd) missed the greatest chance – but no more goals were scored.

Angelino’s late goal keeps Leipzig ahead of Freiburg

SC Freiburg just missed out on a place in the Champions League. In the duel between their neighbors with the same number of points at RB Leipzig, the Breisgauers acted defensively cleverly and took the lead with a somewhat fortunate goal from Demirovic (38th). The RB offensive, which was so strong recently, remained pale for a long time, only got going in the final phase – and later equalized with a low shot from Angelino (90th). Hoffenheim could now be a laughing third, who could move up to fourth place with a win in Cologne on Sunday.

Completely out of place again: Hertha crisis continues to worsen

Hertha BSC is still deep in the crisis after the 1: 4 against Eintracht Frankfurt. The guests from Hesse were superior from the start and deservedly rewarded themselves with the lead (17′) with Knauff’s fine header after a great Kostic cross, after the break Tuta scored from a corner (48′) and Lindström into the goal that Lotka had missed 56.) after. Selke’s goal (61′) gave Hertha hope only briefly, because Borré immediately restored the three-goal gap (63′). For the capital city it was the fourth defeat in a row and the eighth game in a row without a win.

Leitsch scores after a dropout: Bochum wins the promoted duel

The promoted duel between Bochum and Fürth offered a big “of all things”: VfL defender Leitsch, who played a decisive role in his team’s elimination of the cup during the week, put his colors ahead with a dust-off (35th). His fellow defender Bella Kotchap scored an own goal to equalize (64′), but captain Losilla scored a deflected shot for the 2-1 winner (71′) and gave his team more breathing room in the race to stay up.

Awoniyi’s own goal decides: Wolfsburg beats Union

VfL Wolfsburg is also slowly fighting its way out of the bottom of the table. The Lower Saxony got off to a better start against Union Berlin, Schlager initially only hit the post (3rd). The goal of the day for VfL came from Union striker Awoniyi with an own goal after a corner (24′). In the second half, the guests then pushed for an equaliser, which, despite the clear superiority, was not to come – Wolfsburg scored three flattering points over time.
