Club Brugge flushed through the cup defeat against AA Gent with a simple 0-5 victory over Seraing. Andreas Skov Olsen was the big man at Blauw-Zwart with two goals and an assist, which keeps the gap with Union intact.
Despite the slip in the cup against AA Gent, Alfred Schreuder kept faith in his starting eleven. That meant that Charles De Ketelaere started again on the bench. Ruud Vormer had to drop out sick.
It didn’t take Club long to open the score. After the recapture of Rits, it went to Skov Olsen. The Dane dribbled in from the right and pulled the trigger. Not much later, Rits and Noa Lang failed to immediately ensure the quick 0-2.
Delay, but no cancellation, because on the half hour Rits was able to take advantage of a sleepwalking Seraing defense, who couldn’t get rid of a corner from Skov Olsen. Rits picked up and scored his fifth league goal from the edge of the sixteen.
The home team was ready for the slaughter and barely put anything in the way of Club. Adamyan showed his mercy when he only mishandled Lang for Dietsch, but Cachbach put an end to all Liège hopes by pushing hard on Odoi’s ankles. After the intervention of the VAR, the midfielder was allowed to take a shower early. Club did not hold back and made it 0-3 before half-time. After a combination with Lang, it was again Skov Olsen who hit the mark. Dietsch was credited with the goal. So it remains to be seen what the Pro League will decide in the coming days.
With the handbrake on
The team of coach Alfred Schreuder played a won game and gradually started to make substitutions in the second half. Dost and De Ketelaere, among others, came in. It was striking that Noa Lang went straight to the dressing room after his replacement.
Blauw-Zwart did not fully press the accelerator after that, but 20 minutes before the end it still reached 0-4. Once again, Skov Olsen was involved in the goal, although it was not really difficult for him by the Seraing defenders. From the back line he put in front of Dost, who scored easily from close range.
In the final phase it became even more the evening of Skov Olsen. After a nice one-two with Vanaken, the Danish winger scored his second goal of the evening. Apart from an injury at Mata – we have to wait and see if that is serious – the visit to Le Pairay was a huge success for Club, who remain seven points behind leader Union – which also won themselves. Seraing can gradually prepare for the relegation play-offs.
