Bologna Baseball Star Filippo Agretti Extends Contract
UnipolSai Fortitudo Baseball Bologna has secured teh services of versatile player Filippo Agretti for the 2022 season,marking his sixth consecutive year with the club.
Agretti’s tenure with the team has been marked by significant success. He has been instrumental in securing three Serie A1 championships (2018, 2019, 2020), a Champions Cup title in 2019, and two Italian Cups (2017, 2018). In the 2021 season, Agretti was a key offensive contributor, boasting an impressive .344 batting average, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 39 runs scored under manager Daniele Frignani’s leadership.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Agretti stated, “Continuing my career with my hometown team fills me with immense pride.I’m dedicated to recovering from a recent injury that required a minor procedure. My goal is to return to the field as soon as possible and contribute to the team’s success, aiming to build upon last year’s performance.”
Looking ahead to the new season, Agretti emphasized the team’s ambition: “Our objective is to go all the way and win the final game. last year was disappointing for both the team and our fans.this year, we are resolute to bring the Scudetto back to Bologna and secure a spot in the prestigious Champions Cup, a competition that holds great significance for us.”

Let’s get right to it. You’ve been a cornerstone of this team for six seasons now, achieving unbelievable success with three Serie A1 championships, a champions Cup, and two Italian Cups. What does it meen to you to continue this journey with fortitudo?
Filippo:
Honestly, there’s no place I’d rather be. Representing my hometown team—the team I grew up watching—is a dream come true. We’ve built something special here, and I feel a deep connection to the players, the fans, and the entire association.

Your 2021 performance was remarkable, with a.344 batting average and 25 RBIs. But your season was unfortunately cut short by an injury requiring surgery. How’s the recovery going,and are you confident you’ll be back to your peak form by opening day?
Filippo:
It’s been a tough road back,but I’m making progress every day. I’m committed to my rehab and working closely with the team’s medical staff. My goal is to be back on the field quickly and contributing to the team’s success in any way I can. I’m not getting any younger, but I feel like I can still offer a lot to this team.
Moderator:
You mentioned contributing to the team’s success. This year, the target seems clear: bringing the Scudetto back to Bologna. What are the team’s key strengths this year, and how do you see them overcoming last year’s disappointment?
filippo:
I truly believe we have the talent and determination to achieve our goal. We have a solid core of veterans with championship experiance, and the younger players are hungry to prove themselves. we learned a lot from last year’s setback, and we’re using that experience to fuel our motivation. every player, every coach—we are all in this together.
Moderator:
Those are fighting words, Filippo! This year’s Serie A1 promises to be incredibly competitive. Do you see any particular teams that pose the biggest threat to Fortitudo’s championship aspirations?
filippo:
Of course, every team wants to beat us, and there are several strong contenders.Parma, Rimini, and Nettuno are always tough opponents. We respect all our opponents but onyl focus on ourselves and playing our best baseball.
