Horschel and Gooch in the lead, Hovland and McIlroy back

Horschel and Gooch in the lead, Hovland and McIlroy back

The cards are folded before the last round in Bay Hill, Florida. The Americans Gooch and Horschel take control from Viktor Hovland, without particularly illustrating themselves. A card in par (72) for Gooch and just under par for Horschel (71) is enough to occupy the top of the leaderboard, at -7.

Hovland and McIlroy in trouble

Viktor Hovland, leader yesterday at -9, left feathers on the Orlando course. Six bogeys, an almost non-existent putter, the Norwegian returned a card of 75 (+3) this Saturday, but lost only two places in the standings, only third behind Gooch and Horschel.

Rory McIlroy loses control again during the moving day. For the past two years, the Northern Irishman has cracked the weekend at Bay Hill: no card under par in the last two rounds since 2020. It’s even a 76 (+4) returned this Saturday, with a double and five bogeys. Rory points to -3 total, in 6th position.

Scheffler se replace

By co-signing the best card of the day (68, -4), Scottie Scheffler gains 16 places on the leaderboard and is at -5, only fourth just behind Hovland. The American was able to erase his first leg (+1) with a superb return in -5, including an eagle at 16 (par 5) after a drive of 310 meters.
