Belgian ice hockey, another discipline that does not grow with such leaders

On Saturday evening, the Liège ice rink was on fire, with large numbers of people attending the Belgian Cup final between the Bouldogs de Liège and Herentals. A long-awaited moment. But at this party and this victory in Liège, the Last Hour / Les Sports + could not attend! Our collaborator Denis Esser was indeed refused access to the ice rink even though he was in possession of his press card and our national sports media was of course announced to the Liège club, which assured us that, even without prior accreditation, we could cover the event.

At the reception for the press, a Flemish cerberus of the federation as obtuse as visibly little to the fact that there are French-speaking media purely repressed our journalist who simply intended to be able to do his job. Despite several courteous attempts to present his official pass, the “no” was final and the exit door indicated. A very sad image for a sport that nevertheless attracts a lot of public. But now, the media coverage of ice hockey obviously does not seem to interest the leaders of the discipline. Unless, as is the case in other disciplines, the only French-speaking club playing at the highest level can disturb. Still, with such narrow-mindedness, this federation and therefore this discipline are not likely to grow anytime soon…
