Despite new corona cases and only 40 hours away from the EuroLeague fight with Olympiakos, cup winner Bayern Munich was able to clearly assert itself against former series champion Brose Bamberg on the 23rd match day of the Basketball Bundesliga. The team of ill coach Andrea Trinchieri, who was replaced by Demond Greene, won in front of 2,000 fans with 83:62. Munich’s account now shows 36:10 points.
It was a very even game for a long time. The guests were even able to win the first half (34:35). After the break, Upper Franconia didn’t find their way into their offensive game at all, which is confirmed by the poor throwing quotas in the end. Gradually, the strongly defending leader of the table pulled away from them.
FC Bayern remains the leader
In the end, five Bayern players scored in double figures. Deshaun Thomas was the most successful with 20 points, followed by Darrun Hilliard with 13, Augustine Rubit with 12. Ognjen Jaramaz and Andreas Obst each scored eleven points. Justin Robinson (16) and Christian Sengfelder (14) scored best in Bamberg. Great joy for Paul Zipser: The 28-year-old was able to celebrate a goal for the first time in nine months.
Bamberg only twelfth in the table
A real final sprint is now needed at Bamberg in order to still reach the play-offs. The Franconians are currently in twelfth place in the table.
