Scottie Scheffler wins the Arnold Palmer Invitational

Scottie Scheffler wins the Arnold Palmer Invitational

Second victory in a month for American Scottie Scheffler, 25. After his success in Phoenix on February 13, Scheffler adds a trophy to his cabinet, he who has long failed to win despite several career top-10s (17 top-10s before his first victory). In Orlando, the Texan signs a final card in par (72), sufficient to win in view of the difficult conditions offered.

In addition to the renowned course prepared to put players in difficulty, gusts of wind blew over Bay Hill, making it even more difficult for them to play. The American’s 283 is also the second worst total for a winner since the start of the 2014-15 season on the PGA Tour, the palm (284) being held by Tyrrell Hatton in 2020… at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Strongest Scheffler

In the penultimate game with Viktor Hovland, Scottie Scheffler was the strongest on Sunday. While Gooch and Horschel, the last to go, lost a lot of shots (+5 and +3 respectively), Scheffler kept his score around par. The Texan was precise on his green attacks today, with almost three shots gained on the rest of the field in this area. Add two won strokes on putting and the rest of the field is behind. This victory brings the American to first place in the FedEx Cup.

Viktor Hovland, Tyrrell Hatton and Billy Horschel (-4) finish in second place. The Englishman signs a 69 (-3), the second best card of the day. The Norwegian signs his third top-10 of the season at Bay Hill. Gary Woodland finished 5th alongside Chris Kirk (-3). Rory McIlroy signs like yesterday a 76 (+4) and finishes outside the top-10 (13th), at +1 total.
