Ajax U18 eliminated in cup tournament, U16 gets stuck on a draw

Ajax U18 was eliminated from the cup tournament on Saturday. In the mini-classic, Feyenoord’s peers at Sportcomplex Varkenoord were too strong with 3-2. Furthermore, Ajax O17 lost 2-0 to PSV and O16 played a 1-1 draw against Vitesse at Sportpark De Toekomst. Finally, the O15 managed to book a convincing 0-4 victory at AZ.

Ajax U18 is eliminated in the cup tournament. In the mini-Classic, they lost 3-2. At De Toekomst, both teams played an open opening phase, after which Feyenoord was the first to hit in the fourteenth minute. Around the half hour, Ajax took control and that immediately equalized Jay Enem. However, Feyenoord reacted provocatively and already had a few chances in the remainder of the first half. In the stoppage time of the first half, it fell 2-1.

After the break, Ajax U18 saw four fresh faces come into the line in the persons of Sten Kremers, Stanis Idumbo, Prince Aning and Mateja Milovanovic, but Ajax could not make the difference despite a predominance. In fact, it was Feyenoord that made it 3-1 in the 69th minute via Nesto Groen. Matje Milovanovic made the connecting goal in the 87th minute, but it was not a real final offensive. Ajax U18 was unable to put Feyenoord over the knee and that means the end of the cup tournament.

FT | Ajax O16 – Vitesse O16 (1-1)

Ajax U16 concluded the competition match with Vitesse’s peers on Saturday afternoon with a 1-1 draw. At Sportpark De Toekomst, both teams were able to create some opportunities in the first half hour, but this did not yet lead to a goal. However, in the 35th minute, the visitors took the lead; Ajax player Moester easily lost the ball in his own penalty area and Vitesse striker Van der Leij was able to punish this mistake hard. Five minutes later, the Arnhem team missed a good shooting opportunity, which did not double the lead and both teams went to the dressing rooms with a 0-1 score.

Immediately after the break, the team from Amsterdam brought in three fresh forces in the persons of Freek Entius, Joey de Ruijter and Radmehr Gozardanabakhsh. The latter quickly became valuable to his team. On his first contact with the ball, the substitute curled the ball in for the equalizer. In the remainder of the second half, both teams had some small chances, but there was no winner. As a result, the match results in a draw, which can be regarded as justified in view of the game image.
