Schalke 04 fears for the so important goal of the season ascent! That’s why coach Dimitrios Grammozis (43) was released on Sunday after a crash in sixth place.
The successor is now certain: It will be the previous assistant coach Mike Büskens (53)! He is to take over the job as interim coach for the remaining nine league games.
Sporting director Rouven Schröder: “We are very pleased that Mike Büskens has agreed to our proposal to support the club in the current phase by moving to the front row at short notice. We are 100 percent convinced that Buyo is the right choice for the final phase of the season.”
But it won’t be a long-term commitment. Schröder explains: “Buyo has asked to only act as head coach for a limited period of time and to resume his job as assistant coach for the new season. That also corresponded to our ideas.”
Curious: Büskens himself cannot start his job at the moment. After a positive corona test on Sunday, he is still in isolation. Matthias Kreutzer will therefore head the units until further notice.
