Hasi saw his team lose 1-0 on Friday night to Al-Ettifaq, a competitor in the battle against relegation. Al-Ahli now only has two points more than Al-Ettifaq, who is in first relegation place.
That defeat did not go down well with the board of the Saudi club because Hasi received a letter of resignation pushed under his nose.
The ex-trainer of Anderlecht will be succeeded by the Uruguayan Robert Siboldi. He has 7 days left to save the club from relegation. The former goalkeeper gained coaching experience in Mexico.
Hasi has been Al-Ahli’s trainer since the summer of 2021. He previously coached Anderlecht, Legia Warsaw, Olympiakos and Al-Raed. As a player, he defended the colors of Racing Genk, Anderlecht, Lokeren and Cercle Brugge.
