Saturday March 5 will go down in history as one of the most violent days in Mexican football. Those attending the La Corregidora stadium, home of the ‘White Roosters’ of Querétaro, experienced moments of terror when everything was joy in the midst of the clash against Atlas, a team of Colombians Camilo Vargas and Julián Quiñones.
Well, two days after the violent event that led to the suspension of the day in Mexico, the red and black club published a video in which the players and their coach appear, sending a message of peace and reconciliation. It should be remembered that there are dozens of injured Atlas fans, after the violent attack by fans of the rival team.
Coach Diego Martín Cocca and his captains, Aldo Rocha and Hugo Nervo, took the lead. The video has been shared by all the members of the team through their social networks. With a single voice they ask for football in peace and even more so now when from Querétaro, coach Hernán Cristante denounced threats to his players.
“We are here as brothers, as parents, as children, as simple human beings. The truth is that we are very sad about the events that took place last weekend, which we categorically condemn and may never happen again,” Nervo said. The Mexican Rocha added: “We want to express all our support to all the affected fans and loved ones who were at the scene of the events. All situations are being closely monitored.”
Finally, Diego Cocca expressed that “we grew up and believe in the values of sport. That is why we are all here together, because we want football without violence and in peace.”
