Steven Gerrard, Aston Villa manager is very happy with Philippe Coutinho. For him, Coutinho’s performances now are like his top performances at Liverpool in the past!
Most recently, Phillipe Coutinho was the star of Aston Villa’s victory over Southampton in the English Premier League, Saturday (5/3). Coutinho made one goal and one assist.
Villa itself won 4-0 in that match. The other three goals were scored by Ollie Watkins, Douglas Luiz and Danny Ings.
Coutinho, who is on loan at Aston Villa from Barcelona, continues to shine. Coutinho has made three goals and three assists from seven matches in the Premier League!

Philippe Coutinho is indeed trusted by the manager who was also his former teammate at Liverpool, Steven Gerrard. Gerrard gives Coutinho the freedom to play up front, which sometimes Coutinho can go deeper or deeper into finisher.
“We have Coutinho who is fully fit and able to help the team achieve good results,” Gerrard told BBC.

Coutinho once teamed up with Gerrard at Liverpool from 2015 to 2017. Gerrard knows very well how the Brazilian player’s style of play is.
“Coutinho has returned to his best form, as before at Liverpool first. He is a world-class player,” said Gerrard.
“Coutinho is able to push his team-mates in attack, by creating space and allowing Watkins or Ings to run more penetratingly,” he continued.
