The Chilean U-17 women’s team had the crucial match this Monday in the search for a place in the 2022 India World Cup of the category. Against Uruguay, at the Charrúa stadium, the nationals played for the elimination of the South American Women’s Championship if they fell against the locals. It was a 1-1 draw and La Roja is still alive.
The game started with a serious injury. The second Uruguayan arrival ended with Antonella Mazziotto, a rival player, hitting the head with the booty goalkeeper Catalina Mellado. The soccer player from San Luis de Quillota was unconscious and had to leave the exchange after 6 minutes.
Chile became proactive and highly offensive after the departure of his goalkeeper. The skilful Natsumy Millones had several medium-range shots on goal in order to score the partial 1-0, but after the first few minutes, the score remained tied at zero.
The problem is that the meeting was very even in strength. Uruguay and La Roja were two very similar teams in play and the friction and intensity were the hallmark of the match. Several arrivals of national danger but the goalkeeper Romina Olmedo was always well stopped.
The second half began with the Uruguayans much closer and putting more pressure on the Chilean goal. However, after completing the first hour of play, the nationals took control of the game and the entry of Constanza Oliver was crucial for the increase in the attack and of the national incision.
They ran 67 minutes and Natsumy Millones received a pass from the midfielder of Santiago Morning. The Coquimbo Unido winger scored her umpteenth shot on goal and with a powerful shot beat the Uruguayan goal and scored the partial 1-0 for the Red Sub-17.
But at 87, 20 minutes later, and after three balls that hit the Millions stick, Ilana Guedes aimed at Javiera Cárdenas’ goal. And although the ball hit the crossbar, it finally went in and became a partial one-on-one draw.
On Wednesday, March 9, at 4:00 p.m., the crucial match comes. Chile must beat Peru, in the last round of the South American Women’s group stage, and hope that Uruguay does not win. That result will give the classification to the final home run.
