The creation of a European Superliga could be coming soon, which aims to be an alternative to UEFA and part of the initiative of 11 football clubs from England, Spain, Italy, France and Germany, without the presence of any Portuguese team.
This information is provided by Expresso, this Saturday, and originates from the Football Leaksan investigation carried out by the EIC (the European Investigative Collaborations consortium), of which the Portuguese publication is part.
This consortium will have had access to an email attachment – revealed by the German magazine The mirror – sent to the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, with the binding agreement to be signed by the presidents of the 11 European clubs, later this November, and to be put into practice from 2021.
In addition to the creation of the European Superliga, the objective is also to create a “multinational organization to manage it [a essa Superliga]with administrative, financial and disciplinary powers” similar to those of UEFA, “but on a different scale”, writes Expresso.
The 11 founding clubs are then Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Milan and Bayern Munich, with five guests: Atletico Madrid, Marseille, Inter Milan, Roma and Borussia Dortmund.
It is recalled that in March of last year, the president of UEFA, Aleksander Ceferin, rejected the idea of a European Superliga, saying that it “would mean a war” with the institution.
