Aaron Rodgers signs mega contract with Green Bay Packers

Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers will remain with the Green Bay Packers for four more years. According to consistent media reports, the franchise agreed with the 38-year-old to continue his career with the four-time Super Bowl winner from Wisconsin. The National Football League (NFL) picked up the reports and spread the news on social media.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the four-year, $200 million deal would make Rodgers the highest-paid player in football history. 153 million of them should therefore be guaranteed. Since the end of the season, the Packers had said they wanted to keep Rodgers.

However, sports podcaster Pat McAfee, who maintains a close relationship with Rodgers and has often been a guest on his show, publicly doubted the details circulated. “According to my sources,” McAfee wrote on Twitter, that the information on the contract term and salary volume of $200 million was incorrect. The former NFL professional was the first to announce Rodgers’ contract signing.

In February, Rodgers was named the MVP, the most valuable player in the league, for the fourth time. Two days before the Super Bowl, he received the prestigious award for the second time in a row. In the NFL regular season, he had 37 touchdowns and 4,115 passing yards in just four interceptions.

Nevertheless, he and his team, which also includes the German pass receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, were surprisingly eliminated in the play-offs against the San Francisco 49ers.
