La Vega wins the Asotasa Archery Mella Cup

SANTIAGO. The La Vega Association won first place in the XXIII Mella Archery Cup held on Sunday at the La Barranquita Shooting Range in this city.

Vegan archers got four gold and two silver metals.

In the contest, organized by the Archery Association of Santiago (Asotasa), chaired by Bárbara Hernández, the representation from Santo Domingo took second place with a gold medal and three bronze medals.

Third place went to the team from the San Pedro de Macorís Archery Association, with a gold metal, while fourth place went to the team from Santiago, adding a silver and a bronze medal. San Francisco de Macorís finished in fifth place.

The meeting was attended by 65 archers from the associations of San Pedro de Macorís, Santo Domingo, San Francisco de Macorís, La Vega and the hosts from Santiago together with the Spanish Center.

In the men’s compound bow category, the vegan José Miguel Robiou Jr won the gold against his fellow countryman Paris Goico, who took the silver, and Rubén Jiménez, from Santiago, won the bronze.

In the women’s category, vegan Ysmarlin Ramos won gold after beating Carlina Guzmán, from the capital, who won silver, and Julisa Espinal, also from Santo Domingo, took bronze.

Heriberto Jiménez, from La Vega, was crowned monarch in the men’s recurve bow, while the silver went to the also vegan Luis M. Jáquez, and Daniel Martínez, from Santo Domingo, the bronze.

In the women’s category, vegan Anny Estefany Jerez won gold by beating petromacorisana Santa Ortiz, and bronze went to Camila Pérez, from Santo Domingo.

The president of the Santiago Archery Association, Bárbara Hernández, thanked the Ministry of Sports, the Dominican Archery Federation, Ideinca and Industriales San Migual for their support and their Cool Heaven products.
