Two-time Olympic gold medalist and WNBA all-star Brittney Griner has been arrested in Russia on drug charges.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist and seven-time National Women’s Basketball Association All-Star Brittney Griner, who plays for the Phoenix Mercury basketball team, was arrested for drug possession.

Customs officials announced that the basketball player was arrested in Russia after they found cannabis oil in his luggage at an airport near Moscow.

According to the news of the Russian news agency TASS, 31-year-old American actress Brittney Griner, who was arrested on drug charges, is still detained in Russia.

According to the Russian Federal Customs Service, Russia’s Interfax News Agency said, “As a US citizen was passing through the green channel at Sheremetyevo Airport from New York, a working dog from the Sheremetyevo Customs Dog Department detected the possible presence of narcotic substances in the baggage that was accompanied by a US citizen. Customs inspection of carried carry-on luggage confirmed the presence of substances containing a special smelling liquid, and an expert determined that the liquid was hemp oil (hash oil), a narcotic substance.

Brittney Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, posted a photo on her Instagram, thanking those who prayed and supported the basketball star’s safe return to the United States.

The National Association of Women’s Basketball Players said in a statement, “We are aware of the situation in Russia regarding one of our members, Brittney Griner. Our biggest concern is the safety and well-being of BG. We will continue to watch closely and look forward to her return to the United States.” it was said.
