The second archery competition organized this season by the Balma Arc Club (BAC) will take place all weekend on the facilities of the Jean-Rostand gymnasium. On the program: indoor shooting at 2 x 18 m. An important competition, since it is selective for the French championships. Despite the long pandemic hiatus, BAC is now back to cruising speed. “We have found the workforce that was ours before the crisis,” said President Vincent Denhez. He continues: “The club now has 120 members, that is to say the maximum of its capacity. Some have not returned, but new practitioners have replaced them”.
A few weeks ago, the BAC won the Excellence label from the FFTA (French Archery Federation) for the year 2022. This title rewards the solid structure of the club, which allows regular indoor practice in good conditions. “We are lucky to have a heated and, above all, well-lit gymnasium. This is essential for practicing archery correctly”, specifies the president. The club also benefits from the outdoor facilities of the Latécoère stadium. In fact, each archer can take advantage of at least four hours of weekly training, led by a professional, Yannick Provost, and four qualified trainers.
Prescription archery
A qualified framework which notably authorizes the club to offer the practice of archery on prescription. Another criterion for obtaining the label: the presence of the BAC at the national level, with a women’s team in the first recurve division. Moreover, four of the 130 official referees in Occitanie are members of the club. The BAC also meets the requirements in terms of diversity, since it has a female referee, a leader and at least 38% female practitioners.
