Due to the shortening of the KHL season, the championship for the Admiral team ended before the Olympics. Therefore, during the Olympic Games, its representative Miks Indrašis joined the Swiss Premier League (NL) club “Biel-Bienne”, but Rihards Bukarts is still without the club.
However, the team’s head coach Leonid Tambiev continues to work in Vladivostok. Both in an interview published on the KHL website and at a press conference on March 2, Tambijev told about the recruitment of the team for next season, as well as the goal to enter the playoffs with “Admiral”.
The specialist also stated at the press conference that the club’s coaching staff will still decide on the future of Mika Indraš and Rihard Bucharest in the Vladivostok team.
Riga-born Tambiyev thus adds a number of coaches whose Russian invasion of Ukraine has not prevented him from pursuing a career in Russia. Andrejs Banada, a former hockey player of the Latvian national team U-18, who has been cooperating with Tambijev for several seasons, also worked as his assistant last season.
As part of the Latvian national team, Tambijevs participated in 15 world championships, as well as in two Olympic Games. The attacker scored 150 (66 + 84) points in the national team during his career and is the most productive hockey player of the Latvian national team. The specialist began commanding the Admiral team last November, leaving the Kazakh unit in Karaganda’s Sarjarka.
It has been reported that after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, several former hockey players of the Latvian national team or members of the coaching corps have continued their careers – Viktor Ignatiev (Metallurg “of Magnitogorsk), Sergey Naumov (RKA of Moscow) Omsk “Avant-Garde”). Normunds Siliņš, a fitness coach, is still working in the Ak Bars team in Kazan, Sportacentrs.com reported.
Groms later stopped cooperating with the club and has already returned to Latvia, according to information available to him, “Sportacentrs.com” reported on Saturday.
