Cuba took the seven gold titles in dispute in the 62nd edition of the Caribbean Table Tennis Championship, which was held at the Pabexpo fairgrounds from March 3 to 8.

With three titles in their pocket, the mixed doubles and the one for both teams, on the closing day the male and female pairs won first place against their peers from Puerto Rico.

The first turn went to Daniela Fonseca and Karla Pérez, Pan American bronze medalists in Cali-2021. The locals had lost in the first set 11-6 against Puerto Ricans Daniely Ríos and Fabiola Díaz. However, they managed to correct the initial errors to take three straight sets with scores of 11-2, 11-6 and 11-6, with the service as the main weapon.

In the second instance, the duo made up of Jorge Campos and Liván Martínez dominated Oscar Birriel and Richard Pietri in five sets. After starting with hegemony over the visitors (11-7 and 11-5), the hosts gave away 13 points in the following two sets due to poor services, a game element that led the Puerto Ricans to equalize the general score (11-13 and 11 -13). The last set was close, but with the support of the fans and a great defense, they finished the match in his favor and win the second gold of the day.

The discussion of the title single between Fonseca and Idalys Lovet ended in favor of the latter 4-2 (11-5, 11-7, 10-12, 11-8, 4-11 and 13-11). Although at times it seemed like a training session, both players displayed good defense, thus giving those present a show.

Campos became the winner of the competition, with four gold medals, by having the Puerto Rican Daniel González, the highest registered ranking. Both were the top favorites before the tournament and fulfilled their presence in the final. However, it was not a good day for González, and the Cuban won the final 4-0 (11-7, 11-4, 11-1 and 11-8).
