The first deputy mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboniconfirmed that the talks between the City Council and Barça’s management for Barça to play football at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, owned by the city, as Joan Laporta said, are “very advanced in a positive way” and will bear fruit in the “Coming weeks.”
“I confirm this in a positive light,” Collboni told a news conference when asked if Barça would play in the 2023-2024 season at the Montjuïc stadium for work on remodeling the Camp Nou and under what conditions.
Collboni, who chairs B: SM, the municipal company that manages the stadium, declined to give figures “so as not to put more pressure on the people who are negotiating”, but insisted that the negotiations “are going very well”, not only from the point of view of the strict cost that would entail for Barça to play at the Olympic Stadium, but in terms of ensuring that public services, security and mobility work around the stadium and the impact on the environment.
“When Barça is doing well, Barcelona is doing well”
“We want Barça to do well, because when Barça is doing well, Barcelona is doing well. We are making it easy, and we – the city council – must help the club, as much as we can, “said the first deputy mayor.
In this sense, Jaume Collboni pointed out that these are public spaces with assessed prices and free competition, and the regulations for these cases must be complied with.
