France Football announced the best player of 2021 was Lionel Messi.
The Argentine ace now has 7 Ballons d’Or and has two ahead of Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the second biggest winner of the award, with 5 Ballons d’Or in his career.
He won competition from Polish Robert Lewandowski. Athletes such as Real Madrid’s Benzema, Chelsea’s Jorginho and Liverpool’s Salah were also tipped to win the award.
