Since December, the men’s team has crisscrossed the department to compete in the Laffont challenge. The matches take place in 4 singles and a double, after finishing first in their group, they played the final against Cornebarrieu. The singles began with the victory of Erlé Le Bris (15/2), then the defeat of Mathieu Lemeille (15/1). It was the turn of Frédéric Mirtain (15/1) and Philippe Mangin (15/1) to return to the court, everyone had a difficult match in 3 sets. Frédéric had lost the singles but some time later, Philippe won his, thus bringing the 2 teams tied. It was therefore in the decisive double that the Saint-Jeannais would win. The captain in discussion with his players had decided to align the pair Frédéric Mirtain and Erlé Le Bris to play a match once again under tension. It was at the end of the suspense that the Saint-Jeannais imposed themselves in double thus bringing the victory to the team. “Throughout the game, the team was united and we supported each other at all times, a real team match in fair play which ends in the most beautiful way: victory” says captain Philippe Mangin. This title bodes well for the regional team championships which begin on March 13.
