That’s it then! The medical instinct Veilchen BG 74 Göttingen clearly lost their penultimate home game in the women’s basketball league (DBBL) 75:89 (35:53) against the already relegated record champions TSV Wasserburg and thus lost all chances in the 1st league to stay.
Göttingen – Relegation after five Bundesliga seasons is perfect. At least in terms of sport, because Halle (yesterday’s game in Keltern canceled due to Corona) can no longer reach the women from Göttingen. By the way, Wasserburg only came with seven players.
Good news first before the game: Marie Reichert and Katharine Tudor, who were absent in Düsseldorf due to corona, were able to test themselves. While Tudor was back, Reichert paused as a precaution.
Had she ever played! Your teammates slept through the start completely and fell behind by 0:6. Sylwia Bujniak, Jenny Crowder and Krystina Brabencova equalize, but after TSV is back up 10:6, BG 74 coach Goran Lojo immediately takes the first time-out after just 3:32 minutes. The result: Wasserburg continues to score, the hosts are behind at 9:16 – the nerves! But the purple and yellow don’t give up, fight back and equalize with Bujniak’s three to make it 18:18. 20:20 after the first quarter, everything open.
But not after the second! It is lost at 15:33, the Violet Ladies fail on their nerves. Wasserburg hits hard (five times) from beyond the three-point line, but the BG 74 can’t think of anything on the defensive. Step mistakes, inaccurate degrees – that’s how home defeat and relegation are.
In the second half, the BG 74 tried everything again, but the Bavarians, of course, can no longer lose such a large lead. After 30 minutes, the women of Göttingen are behind at 55:76 – unfortunately nothing works anymore. But at least Jenny Crowder and her teammates don’t give the game away completely. Coach Lojo then gives the bench players some time to play as recognition for their training work. Sylwia Bujniak finally sunk the last three of the game to make it 75:89. “I’m glad the season is coming to an end,” says Veilchen Ladies Managing Director Richard Crowder after the end.
The last two games on Sunday at home against the Rutronik Stars Keltern and on March 20th at the GiroLive Panthers Osnabrück are no longer important. The BG 74 can only save itself at the “green table”.
