Linking sport and disability in Cosne

Welcoming disabled sports in its club is more and more appreciated by the leaders, certainly sometimes because of worries to adapt premises and practices, but the human reward is always there.

Conviviality at the rendezvous

This is the observation made by Francis Gental, the president of the cosnois badminton club, its leaders and the licensees.

For the past few seasons, they have welcomed three people with disabilities: wheelchair licensees. These members evolve most of the time in training with the able-bodied and are perfectly integrated.

One of them, Raphaël Bon, will compete for the second time in the French Handi Championship, in Deux-Sèvres.

Last Saturday, the club offered a discovery of para-badminton in partnership with the departmental badminton committee and the departmental disability committee. Various categories can be practiced in para badminton, in accordance with different types of disability: motor-handicap, deaf, mentally retarded, short stature, etc.

Élodie Gauthier, project manager for the disabled sports departmental committee, and Pruntha Arun took part in very fun and friendly activities.
